Welcome to Kat with the Purple Hair!

Where I share my journey to learn to love myself, express my opinions and learn that life is actually fun... Oh, and embrace my weird!

Let's Get Started

This is my first post on a very public site.  I am here to be honest.  I understand that others will think that this is stupid, "why would anyone want to read the opinions, insights, and experiences of a 50+ year old woman who has spent her whole life believing that she is not enough.  Well, I have decided that I just don't care about "the haters" anymore.  I have spent my whole life being judged and forced to feel ashamed of myself and that I "need to keep my thoughts to myself" and that "no one cares".  Well, if that is true, so be it, and this will just be a diary.  BUT, if you are looking for something different, opinions not bought off (not that every opinion on the internet is bought, but sometimes you have to wonder), and just really want to get ideas, or suggestions, here I am.  I will also be noting my triumphs and failures when it comes to my new ventures in things, like gardening, baking, writing and, well, life.  Other things that I will be sharing on here are things that I love... what I love to read, to listen to (audiobooks), watch on TV (total addict) and music.  These are all my personal opinions.  You can agree with me, disagree with me, I believe that while we may disagree, everyone has that right to their opinions.   I am just going to share what my opinion is.  With that said, I have a BIG rule I live by and would like to maintain on this site.... there are two topics in life that you NEVER EVER discuss in polite society (and I would like this to be a polite society here)... Politics and Religion.  So those can be left at the door, please and thank you.

About me

At Kat with the Purple Hair, I believe in honesty and truth.  And I have decided to share mine.  Here is what you need to know about me.  I am in my 50s.  I work with Special Needs kids.  I am married and have raised 3 very nice young men (not really so young anymore).  One of my children has autism, and so I have been learning about disabilities for a long while.  I have opinions on several things and plan on starting to share them here.  ON SO MANY TOPICS... life, but also, books, crafts, cooking, TV, and so on.  Come along as I embrace the weird that is me... the Kat with the Purple Hair.
